Data freshness and history

How current each kind of data is, and why something might look empty or late

Texture brings in each kind of data on its own schedule, so some readings are minutes old and others are a day or two behind. A chart that looks empty may just be waiting for the next delivery.

How current each source is#

DataHow it arrivesHow current it is
Devices (batteries, chargers, thermostats, vehicles, inverters)Texture collects state from the manufacturerUsually every 5 or 15 minutes, depending on the manufacturer
AMI meters (smart meter readings from your meter data system)Texture collects readings once a dayTypically one to two days behind
SCADA (substation measurements from your control system)Your SCADA system delivers filesUsually within 15 minutes of each file
GIS (your map of the grid: substations, feeders, transformers, service points)Files you deliver, loaded with Texture's Solutions teamAs of the last load
WeatherFetched when you look at a siteCurrent conditions
Charging emissionsWattTime rates, combined with battery chargingWattTime rates update every 5 minutes

Because AMI is a day or two behind, meter charts default to a 7-day window. A 24-hour window can look empty even when the meter is healthy.

How far back history goes#

  • Devices: from when the device connected to Texture. For some manufacturers, Texture's Solutions team can also load earlier history. Contact us.
  • AMI meters: when a meter is first connected, Texture imports its earlier readings, meter by meter, so each meter has its own earliest date.
  • SCADA and GIS: from what you've delivered to Texture.

If something looks empty or late#

  1. Check the workspace. Production and sandbox hold separate data.
  2. Check the time window. For meters, look at the last 7 days, not the last 24 hours.
  3. Check whether the data has arrived. A meter's Last Reading on its site, or SCADA Status on a grid element, shows when data last came in.

For empty charts, missing map pins, and sites with no meters, see Troubleshoot missing data.
