Texture connects to energy devices, meter systems, grid topology tools, and DERMS/VPP platforms. To choose how to connect your data, see How to connect.

Energy devices#

Texture partners directly with device manufacturers to build official OEM APIs — no web scraping or reverse engineering. All connected devices expose a normalized schema for telemetry and state regardless of manufacturer. Available capabilities (telemetry, commands, grid services) vary by manufacturer.

How these connect: customers authorize their own devices with Texture Connect. For a fleet you manage, use Bulk Import and Integration Hub. Which paths a manufacturer supports varies.

Grid sensors#

Grid monitoring devices provide real-time visibility into distribution infrastructure — power quality, voltage, current, and hazard detection at the grid edge.

OEM platform connections#

Some manufacturers expose a platform or installer account that Texture connects to through Integration Hub rather than through a per-device consumer flow.

Device data models#

Each device type has a consistent schema across all manufacturers:

• Batteries — Charge level, grid status, backup capacity, and charge/discharge power
• EV Chargers — Power output, charging state, and session data
• Electric Vehicles — Battery level, range, and charging status
• Solar Inverters — AC/DC power output, lifetime production, and grid connection
• Smart Thermostats — Current temperature, setpoints, HVAC mode, and schedule

Meters#

Connect to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) headends and meter data management systems (MDM) to pull interval data, account information, and billing records.

Grid topology#

Import distribution network topology from design and GIS tools to enrich your grid model in Texture.

Connect to DERMS platforms and VPP aggregators to send dispatch signals and receive market events.

Direction is not the same for every partner:

• Outbound: Texture sends dispatch instructions to the partner (for example Renew Home).
• Inbound signals: the partner sends Texture an event to review and release (for example Leap). See Signal events.
• Texture-powered: Texture runs under the partner's product (Itron DER Optimizer).
