Release Notes

Texture regularly releases new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to improve our platform. Below is a month-by-month summary of key platform updates.

2026#

May 2026#

Headline ship — Explore (Dashboard)

The biggest platform addition this month. A unified map-first view of every grid asset Texture knows about — DERs, meters, sites, substations, transformers, lines, reclosers, and SCADA telemetry — on a single performant map. Filter, drill, and compare across millions of elements at any zoom level; click any asset for a rich drawer with live state, charts, alerts, and history; and ask the new Explorer AI assistant questions in plain English. This is now the primary lens for operating Texture-managed grids.

Also shipped this month:

  • Multi-Year Historical Data Backfill: Extended historical data ingestion across major battery and vehicle integrations (Tesla Grid Services, FranklinWH, EG4), expanding available device history from weeks to multiple years for richer analysis, reporting, and program eligibility.
  • Grid Services Intelligence: Smarter battery discharge using real-time group state-of-charge telemetry, automated vehicle fleet telemetry registration, faster device onboarding via priority event routing, and improved connectivity detection across vehicles and connected devices.
  • OpenADR 2.0b Support: New OpenADR 2.0b codec, parser, and provider framework, enabling participation in utility demand response programs that rely on the OpenADR industry standard.
  • Expanded AMI Meter Ingestion: Utility meter integrations now capture full daily interval readings (up to 96 per meter per day) rather than only the latest value, significantly increasing the resolution of available consumption data for analytics and program operations.
  • Documentation & Brand Refresh: Redesigned documentation landing page with new brand typography and visual system, expanded alerts API reference, refreshed marketing homepage positioning, and a new Trust Center surfacing SOC 2 Type II compliance materials.

April 2026#

  • Public Management API: Launched the public Management API — everything you can do in the Texture Dashboard is now scriptable. Provision workspaces, invite team members and manage their roles and permissions, create and rotate API keys, configure webhook and email destinations, register and manage OAuth apps, build dynamic collections of devices and sites, and query the full audit log, all programmatically. Power users can now wire Texture into their own CI/CD, Terraform, internal admin tools, and security automation rather than being limited to the Dashboard. A full API reference for the Management API is now part of the documentation site.
  • Itron AVPP Program Support: Built support for Itron's AVPP program, enabling third-party battery owners and aggregators to bring large portfolios of existing residential batteries into utility programs at scale. Previously the program supported only per-homeowner enrollment at the time of interconnection; this work opens it up to operators who already manage fleets of distributed batteries.
  • Self-Service Program Configuration: Utilities can now stand up a new grid services program in minutes — fully self-service. Configure branding (logo upload), terms and conditions acceptance, manufacturer-filtered device connections, and in-flow document collection (such as vehicle registrations), all without engineering involvement.
  • Expanded OEM Coverage: Added eight new Smartcar vehicle makes (Honda, Acura, GMC, Polestar, Dodge, Mazda, Ram, Subaru), the Emporia Partner API for custom-credential device registration, Honeywell First Alert app integration, and Azure Event Hub-based real-time Honeywell event streaming. Tesla devices moved from polling to streaming telemetry, delivering significantly higher-frequency data and faster command feedback.
  • Dashboard Device & Enrollment Management: New Connected Systems view on contact pages showing all manufacturer integrations and device IDs, in-dashboard management of enrolled devices, and CSV export of enrollment data for program administrators.
  • Live SCADA & Grid Topology: New single-line SCADA diagrams with live telemetry tooltips and a significantly expanded grid topology layer covering substations, transformers, distribution lines, phases, poles, and reclosers — each with rich detail drawers, telemetry sparklines, and two-day historical views.
  • Faster Dashboard & API: Migrated device metrics to continuous aggregates, taking common time-series queries from ~10 seconds to sub-second and cutting dashboard load times for battery and energy charts from ~30 seconds to a few seconds. The same improvements speed up the API for customers running analytics and reporting on top of Texture.
  • Security & Compliance Investments: Texture successfully completed our SOC 2 Type II audit and is now SOC 2 Type II certified. Also shipped expanded API rate limiting, container security hardening, supply-chain protections for our CI pipeline, and comprehensive audit logging across all platform mutations.
